Suvereto is a suggestive medieval village, still today surrounded by walls, a few steps from the Etruscan city of Populonia, in Tuscany. ; from these first hills you can see the Tyrrhenian Sea, the Gulf of Follonica and the Island of Elba. Behind it, roads and paths wind towards the cities of Massa Marittima and Volterra. The area, rich in cork oaks, centuries-old olive trees and vines, reflects the characteristics of the local economy, traditionally based on agriculture, forestry and livestock farming and today also on crafts and tourism. In particular, the cork woods, mixed with the fragrant and variegated Mediterranean scrub, give the landscape an exclusive imprint: the cork, which here more gently call suvero, is at the origin of the name of the town itself. in particular, it has recently become a large provincial park in which paths for trekking and horseback riding wind through natural resources and archaeological remains from various eras. A system of hillocks (Monte Peloso, Monte Pitti, Poggio Castello) makes the vast territory of Suvereto even more varied, rich in landscape views, natural environments and historical values in part still to be discovered and enhanced.
